Owner
Dave Heinen is the Founder and President of Heinen Landscape & Irrigation. In 1982, Dave decided to make the green industry his career and started the business in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Dave is actively involved with the City of Mission Hills Park Board and is a founding member of the HortNetwork, a not-for-profit organization for horticultural professionals.
When he’s not busy at work, Dave enjoys boating, reading, and exploring the outdoors with his baby. He lives in Fairway with his wife, Tanja, and their two daughters.
Landscape Construction / Irrigation Supervisor & Estimator
Tim Pruter has a Bachelors Degree in Horticulture from Kansas State and joined the company in 2001. He works with our clients and installation team to ensure that the landscape designs are installed according to plan. He is great with the ornamental and technical sides of landscaping such as hardscape layout and installation.
Tim lives in Shawnee, Kansas, and in his spare time, enjoys golfing, coaching his son’s baseball team, and having barbecues with his family.
Landscape Designer & Estimator
Rachel Valdez has a Bachelors Degree in Landscape Architecture from Cornell University and a vocational degree in Horticulture & Floriculture. After working in a large design firm in Sacramento, Rachel joined the company in winter of 2008. She thinks ‘outside the box’ and has a great design eye. She will handle a project from start to finish, and she understands how to incorporate our client’s ideas and desires into a great finished project.
In her spare time, Rachel likes to read, perform Google searches, work on her house in Independence, Missouri, and relax with her friends and family.
Landscape Maintenance Manager & Estimator
After completing his Bachelors Degree in Horticulture at Kansas State, Josh Pool joined our company in 2003 to lead sales and assist with customer service in the Landscape Management and Snow & Ice Management departments.
When Josh is not in the field meeting with clients and visiting jobsites he is running, mountain-biking, camping hiking and spending time with his wife and new baby in their Kansas City, Missouri, home.
Pest Management Supervisor & Quality Control
Mark Kimberlin is a Kansas Licensed Pesticide Applicator. Mark has been with Heinen since 2008 and is responsible for servicing our chemical applications client base. He joined our team after owning and operating his own lawn care business, from March 2003 to November 2008. The addition of Mark to the Heinen team will allow us to better serve our clients.
After tending to properties around town, Mark enjoys field sports, motocross, and spending time with his family.
Office Manager
Donna Sarow has been with Heinen Landscape & Irrigation for more than 10 years. Donna’s responsibilities include bookkeeping, payroll, accounts payable and any other tasks that help the office run smoothly. She greatly enjoys assisting our customers and baking treats for the staff.
When not in the office, Donna enjoys spending time with her family and friends at her home in Overland Park, reading, walking, decorating, fishing, and cooking.
