SPRING
The arrival of spring brings many landscape and lawn maintenance issues to mind; left-over leaves from fall, flower beds begging for spring color and a fresh layer of mulch, garden areas needing to be edged, and wet areas requiring better drainage. As your turf begins to grow at lightning speed, our lawn technicians provide complete services such as mowing and weed-eating to keep your lawn looking its best. Our landscape professionals will clean out the old debris from your flower beds, shovel-edge the borders, spread fresh mulch, and plant annual color to freshen up your entire property. If your yard has sprung a river or is just too soggy, our irrigation and drainage specialists clean out existing or install new landscape drains to greatly diminish the inconveniences of wet spring weather in the Midwest. Finally, our chemical applications experts evaluate your lawn and landscape’s needs and design a detailed program for fertilizing, weed and pest control, and tree, shrub, and turf diseases.
“Great job! Great crew! Looking forward to seeing them again!”
- Mr. and Mrs. Bob Cattanach, Prairie Village
SUMMER
As summer rolls into town with its high humidity and scorching hot weather, the weeds prevalent in our region grow prolifically, cool-season turfgrasses look dry and stressed, and insect pests invade our trees, shrubs, lawn, and houses. Proper irrigation, chemical applications, and fertilizing, as well as a regular mowing schedule, make these summer issues a concern of the past.
“I can attest to the excellent quality of service, the considerate responsiveness, and competitive pricing Heinen has provided us at our residence for the past several years. I have no vested financial interest in Heinen Landscape & Irrigation. We contract with them for what my wife and I believe is an attractive, well-maintained residential lawn.”
-Joseph L. Kyner, MD, The University of Kansas Medical Center, Department of Internal Medicine
AUTUMN
With the retreat of summer, autumn finally appears with milder temperatures and a dramatic display of seasonal color. As the growing season winds down, leaves begin to fall, dandelions reappear, and areas of lawn show their wear. As such, fall is the ideal time to begin preparing your lawn and garden for the next year. Overseeding lawns in late summer or early autumn gives a strong start to your turf in the springtime; applying the final rounds of chemical applications provides a barrier for next year’s weed seeds; and removing leaves and debris before winter hits allows safe and easy snow removal.
“I have long intended to write and tell you all how much I appreciate your effort in helping our little spot…look tidy. You all treat your customer service responsibilities with great care and it shows!!! Thank you, thank you.”
-Liza Townsend
WINTER
Old-man winter creeps up, and suddenly we’re surrounded by freezing cold temperatures and varying degrees of ice, snow, and low humidity. As the temperatures begin to drop, many broadleaf evergreen plants tolerate the drying winds of winter better with an application of anti-desiccant spray. Trees, shrubs, and lawn enter into dormancy which provides the ideal time to do dormant pruning, dormant sprays, and deep-root fertilizing. Our crews also do full-service ice and snow removal which include: snow shoveling, ice-melt application, plowing, and salt-spreading.
ADDITIONAL SERVICES
In addition to the above mentioned work Heinen offers, we provide many other services for your landscape needs including vegetable garden planning and preparation, landscape design and installation, landscape lighting installation and maintenance, storm damage clean-up, and outdoor holiday decoration.

Before designing or choosing an irrigation system for your property, it is important for us to understand your landscape program to better assess how the site will be used. Understanding a site prior to system design rewards owners with savings during construction and operation. Active recreation areas require greater attention to public safety. Not planning for safety may lead to looming liabilities and additional costs for future retrofits. Landscape areas outside of public reach provide opportunities for labor and equipment savings. Using water conservation methods such as pressure regulators, rain sensors, solar sync weather stations, and rainwater catchment systems save you both time and money.
“We are so please with our new irrigation system! Needless to say, Erma is thrilled that she doesn’t have to drag hoses around the yard anymore. We also wanted you to know how impressed we have been with (your) crew!”
-Dale Peterson, CLU
Our irrigation specialists examine and record existing characteristics of the site and its surroundings in order to identify opportunities and constraints. We examine the site location, size, zoning, natural features, man-made features, circulation, utilities, plant material, soil and climate in order to make informed design planning decisions.
“…we have been fortunate to have developed a relationship with Environmental View, LLC. Dave Heinen and his associates have always presented themselves as true professionals. Conscientious about the quality of product they install, as well as the quality of their finished installation. We have never listed a complaint from an end user concerning Environmental View and have recommended them confidently.”
-John St Clair, Branch Manager, Ewing Irrigation
Irrigation is needed in areas where natural rainfall is not sufficient to maintain turf and landscape for its intended purpose. Our water supply is essential to our survival. Where irrigation is necessary, we must design, install, maintain and manage the irrigation systems to insure maximum efficiency and uniform distribution. Specific criteria must be considered when designing an irrigation system. We analyze soil type, slope, plant types, root depth, microclimates, weather patterns, water quality, water pressure, water supply capacity and many other aspects of a project to insure appropriate design of each system.
“My husband and I wanted to extend our thanks for the super job you did installing a new sprinkler zone and landscaping our backyard. We were impressed with not only the quality of your work, but the extra efforts both Brian and Tim made to make sure we had workable solutions that met our expectations.”
-Kathy Simpson, Lenexa, KS
