At Heinen Landscape we’re all about celebrating our love of nature and landscaping.
The Anita B. Gorman Conservation Discovery Center does just that! Located in Kansas City, just east of the Plaza, the Discovery Center is a unique showcase for environmental architecture with trails, live-animal exhibits, tours and workshops.
Take a stroll on the 1/8-mile trail located on eight acres of native-plant gardens including upland and lowland forests, wetlands and prairies. Relax on one of many seated benches and watch wildlife. Explore specialty planting areas including butterfly, hummingbird, bird feeding, wildflower, water and rain gardens – all native to Missouri.
A combination of conservation and urban culture, the environmentally friendly, energy-efficient Discovery Center offers a variety of hands-on learning experiences showing how buildings and landscapes can work in perfect harmony with nature. With educational programs designed to help urban children and adults learn outdoor skills including camping, hiking and growing native plants – there’s environmental education for everyone to learn at the Anita B. Gorman Conservation Discovery Center!
“The Anita B. Gorman Conservation Discovery Center has been a wonderful addition to Kansas City,” said Dave Heinen, “Not only does it educate the public on plants native to Missouri, but it’s important for everyone to be educated on ways we can build an urban environment that’s one with nature.”
