Heinen brought their entire team out for a one-day extreme landscape makeover at KVC Health Systems – an Olathe nonprofit and national leader in adoption, child welfare education.

On Wednesday, September 2, 2015, the Heinen landscaping team (approx. 25 individuals) spent the entire day transforming and beautifying the landscape at KVC’s headquarters and its sister venue, the Ball Conference Center – entirely pro-bono. Heinen partnered with several vendors including House of Rocks and KAT Nurseries to obtain all landscape materials for the project including various trees, shrubs, plants, flowers and granite pathways. The $20k project was at no cost to KVC – and completed in one day!

Ewing Irrigation Supply even came out to feed the Heinen team with a grill-out, which was a nice break for the crew. After lunch, the crew came in out of the heat for a presentation from KVC on adoption at their facility, complete with bilingual translation for the team from a Heinen employee.

At the end of the day, the KVC staff came outside to admire the newly landscaped grounds, offer up a big round of applause to Kansas City’s best landscapers and a sweet treat on a hot day – ice cream!

Dave Heinen, owner of Heinen Landscape, said of the special event, “Adoption and finding lifetime homes for children is an important cause. And KVC does a great job uniting kids and families. Our people really wanted to take the time to help a great cause in our community, and KVC was a perfect fit.”
