As 2019 comes to an end, we thought we’d highlight a few interesting projects from the past year. Also, on behalf of all of Heinen Landscape’s hard-working team members we’d like to say, “Thank You!” for your business this past year. We look forward to serving you in 2020 and beyond!

The Sunken Garden: One of the many shining moments for Heinen in 2019 was the opportunity to be a part of Kansas City history. The Sunken Garden now has a plant-sustaining irrigation system, lush green grass, beautiful new landscaping, and a functioning reflection pool with bubbling fountains, as well a freshly cleaned and weather-guarded memorial bench dedicated to Reed Hickock. “We’ve enjoyed being able to help bring this piece of Kansas City history back to life,” said Heinen Landscape owner, Dave Heinen. “We’re really happy with the end result and we hope Mission Hills residents enjoy it for years to come.” Click here to learn more about this project.

Sunset Hills Gets Evergreen Makeover: Thanks to the landscape pros at Heinen, a previously overgrown area of the customer’s property is part of a beautifully landscaped yard the customer will be able to enjoy for many years to come. Heinen Landscape first removed a large and severely overhanging dead tree that had overtaken the area. Once the tree was removed, a very large and barren patch in the lawn remained. A combination of Pink Dogwoods, Arborvitae, and Vanderwolf Pines were selected by the Heinen Landscape pros and the customer to revamp the open area. The addition of evergreen plant materials professionally designed and installed by Heinen Landscape not only provide the home wind protection during Kansas City’s cold winter months, but also flowering trees and shrubs during the spring and summertime. Outdoor Living in Brookside : Once a desolate backyard with a worn down tennis court and brick patio – this backyard was transformed into an outdoor oasis with repurposed brick, flagstone patio, and a brand new Techo-Bloc fire pit. The professionals at Heinen also installed an underground drainage system. “We installed an underground drainage system that takes everything out to the front of the property, we re-laid brick onto a gravel base to create a drainage plane that alleviates the drainage problem,” said Dave Heinen. “After the removal of the tennis court, we installed a flagstone patio from House of Rocks. New plantings and water feature coming soon, stay tuned for the complete transformation reveal in the spring!
